Veteran's Day 2025

Image
Matt was honored to be the guest speaker at the Bluefield, VA Veteran's Day ceremony. His cousin, Andy is a retired Green Beret and now Town Manager of Bluefield, and the two of them hadn't seen each other in 38 years! The parade and the ceremony were lovely - it was a small town, community affair. Kids were lined up on the streets catching candy and people were sitting out on their front porches waving their American flags. It was the perfect way to spend Matt's last Veteran's Day on active duty. It really was an honor for us both!  Col Andy Hanson (Ret) and Col Matt Hanson Andy and Matt led the parade on foot and I got to ride in the vintage car line in this beauty The VFW 9696 were wonderful hosts

The West Wing

Image
A few weeks ago Matt and I had a private tour of the West Wing. To be totally honest, I was not looking forward it given the current tenant, but we were invited and soooo...we went.  I did have to give myself a pep talk before going. I had to be very intentional and remember that the White House does not belong to the person who lives there. It belongs to us as a nation and it is steeped in history. As we were walking through the hallways and pathways, all I could think was if the walls could talk, what a story they would tell.  We weren't allowed to take many pictures  but the grounds were beautiful  The Press Room was probably my favorite part Why not act the part in the Press Room?!
