Virginia Is For Hansons

The Middleburg Hunt was such a fun experience. It was the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit! 

We spent Thanksgiving in Iowa this year. All of the Hansons. Four Hanson siblings plus three spouses. Eight Hanson cousins, and one grandpa.  But the one that was missing was Mary.  She would've loved seeing her grandkids together. She would've gotten a kick out of all the stories about her. About how she and Tim met and how they raised five kids in that tiny little house on Martha Street. About her love of travel and her love of the ocean.  I think she would've agreed that this reunion was long overdue. I also think that she would've been happy to be the reason for it. She brought is back to Iowa. Together and finally.  As the snow started to fall on Saturday morning,  we settled in with games and football 8.5 inches of snow was really pretty but the canceled flights and delays were less exciting 

Matt was honored to be the guest speaker at the Bluefield, VA Veteran's Day ceremony. His cousin, Andy is a retired Green Beret and now Town Manager of Bluefield, and the two of them hadn't seen each other in 38 years! The parade and the ceremony were lovely - it was a small town, community affair. Kids were lined up on the streets catching candy and people were sitting out on their front porches waving their American flags. It was the perfect way to spend Matt's last Veteran's Day on active duty.
