Here we go...the first college visit for our last little Hanson! Whew, how did we get here?? Viv loved everything about Elon, but kind of the way she loves everything about life. It really was an impressive school though. The size is perfect, it has a great nursing program and a beautiful campus. Who knows where she'll end up, but Elon sure did set the bar high. From North Carolina we went to South Carolina to visit the Hansons Matt and Maureen on her birthday And maybe the best part of long weekend was a Buccee's stop! Totally worth the price of admission!
A few weeks ago Matt and I had a private tour of the West Wing. To be totally honest, I was not looking forward it given the current tenant, but we were invited and soooo...we went. I did have to give myself a pep talk before going. I had to be very intentional and remember that the White House does not belong to the person who lives there. It belongs to us as a nation and it is steeped in history. As we were walking through the hallways and pathways, all I could think was if the walls could talk, what a story they would tell. We weren't allowed to take many pictures but the grounds were beautiful The Press Room was probably my favorite part Why not act the part in the Press Room?!
This weekend was Viv's final race of her junior year and Team Woodson weathered the storm - very literally! The weather was horrible. The team arrived in Philly on Thursday afternoon and had to cancel practice because there was too much debris in the river. The races started on time Friday morning but at noon a storm blew in and it was intense! Because of the storm all races were pushed back three hours. Viv's boat got to the river at about 10:00am but didn't end up rowing until 6:15pm. The girls felt good though and put up their fastest time of the season (thanks in part to that fast running Schuylkill River!) but they were 4 seconds shy of making it to semi-finals. More storms rolled in overnight Friday and by the time everyone got to the river on Saturday morning at 7:00, all the races were cancelled. All in all though, Viv had a great weekend with her teammates and friends. Through the rain, thunder, lightening, and mud (sooooo much mud) Viv kept her signature smile....
